Synopsis:
Once born from the same matter, two forms slowly grow into vastly different beings, suspended between attraction and resistance.
As they merge and separate, intimacy becomes an unstable state where closeness and individuality struggle to coexist.
Director’s Statement:
Romantic relationships have shaped how I understand myself.
Growing up in a conservative part of China, where intimacy before age of 18 was taboo, I explored relationships and my own sexuality in secrecy. Those early experiences, though confusing at times, gradually led to a deeper sense of emotional awareness.
Now, living in Los Angeles, in a stable relationship and expecting my first child, I find myself reflecting on the connections that shaped me. This film revisits those moments and the emotions I once struggled to understand.
I am drawn to how relationships transform us. Like a chemical reaction, two people come together and something new forms, both intimate and unstable. Through this film, I hope to evoke memories of connection, and the meaning we find in looking back.
